En 1982, le Cygnus XC180 qui rejoint la gamme Yamaha, se veut aussi évident à conduire qu’un scooter 50 cm3, tout en possédant un comportement dynamique plus sportif.

Avec son monocylindre 4 temps refroidi par air, le Cygnus 180 prouve que les scooters peuvent être assimilés à autre chose qu’un simple moyen de transport. En effet, le XC 180 est doté d’un moteur silencieux et rapide qui lui permet d’élargir sa plage d’utilisation : purement fonctionnelle ou davantage orienté vers le plaisir.
Coté pratique, le Cygnus 180 ne dispose pas de coffre sous la selle mais possède néanmoins d’une vaste boite à gant.
